An All Woodie Access Event

Today I decided to go to SFOG. I had only been I think one other time this season. My girlfriend and I decided to leave at 2:15p after she got off work, however because of taking care of parking tickets she incurred earlier at her college, we arrived at 4:30p or so.

She decided to stay in the car to study; I parked at my usual spot for FREE and headed down the road to the park. Upon entering the grounds I noticed the construction already underway for Goliath, a huge cross between everything good from Nitro and Apollo's Chariot. I saw some rebar had been tied and footers poured. The ride will go out of the park and back winding over support buildings and through the Georgia Scorcher out into the little duck pond. It will be nothing short of Impressive!

After a tad bit of photo scouting for next time, the sun had broken through the earlier drizzle and I went around the corner to ride Georgia Cyclone. There was about a 4 train wait due to one train operation. Hardly anyone was in the park. This was Columbus Day and so the usually jam packed Acrophobia was simply not.

I walked down past Deja Vu with my Vekoma shirt to see if anyone would accost me. The ride op on cyclone was briefly star strucked from meeting me. I then rode GASM 3 times in a row. With a two-train operation, rides were plentiful here. S:UF was too long for my taste. However I did get a good look at Skull Island, the new water playground area and largest I believe in the country. It looked like it was done well, and with Goliath next year, much of the $450 million the park's investors won is being put to good use.

I do simply wish that park mgmt would put out the attractions on the board outside that are closed for the day. This would be most helpful.

The Great American Scream Machine was in excellent shape today. Nothing was rode but good old fashioned wooden machines...
